This is the Stove Prairie (Colorado) school house in 1896. I used historical photos to recreate the scene. The school is still used, but has been enlarged and remodeled over the years.
About Mary Giacomini
I love the outdoors, hiking and finding peaceful places. My artwork is inspired by places I've been to and would like to return. I enjoy getting "lost" when creating my art and recreating a scene I'd rather be in. I've been a professional artist for over 25 years but have been an artist my entire life. I've always loved to create. I earned a BFA in studio arts, have taken numerous classes & workshops over the years and have a wonderful support system of artist friends. Since I live in Colorado, many of my paintings reflect this area. I enjoy working in oil, pastel and watercolor.

This pioneer schoolhouse was built in 1896. It has been remodeled and enlarged but is still in use today for the children of the mountain communities in Northern Colorado. This structure is currently in the heart of the High Park fire but firefighters are working to save it.
